According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a group of explorers from a race of pan-dimensional and hyperintelligent beings build Deep Thought, the second best computer of all time, to get the answer to the meaning of life, the universe and everything else. After seven and a half million years meditating the question, Deep Thought declares that the answer is 42, reasoning that the question was wrongly posed and must be formulated correctly to understand the answer.
