Little Shop of Horrors is a Broadway musician but most of us remember the 1986 movie with Rick Moranis. At the end of the film that was edited for film and later on television. Seymour doesn't beat Audrey II. Changing this ends with the annoying speech of the film, which the public did not like in the pre-premiere screenings. In the original script Seymour never gets more than being eaten by the monster he has created, Audrey. This is the story. The correct. the one with something to tell. Ah, in the blueray edition you can see the ending that I tell you, not in the TV one.

With your arms relaxed at your sides, measure around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, generally around the belly button. To ensure a comfortable fit, keep one finger between the measuring tape and your body.
Seymour lives in a shitty neighborhood with the rest of the protagonists, including his romantic interest who is harassed by an upper-class dentist (from another neighborhood, better from Seymour's point of view). They show us in this reading how, no matter how bad and stupid the posh are, they don't suffer the consequences. Our protagonist sees in his carnivorous plant the ticket out of the suburbs and begins to sacrifice things (and people) in search of that exit.
This is a critique of the discourse of the capitalist meritocracy, where if you are cruel and work a lot you can achieve another way of life, a better one, with privileges. Because according to the prevailing discourse all great men have something under the rug, it is normal, legal, logical.
Seymour never manages to leave his class, nor his neighborhood. He betrays everyone to achieve success and it devours him. The system devours Seymour, he never had a chance.
Like icing Audrey destroys the city. The monster created by the system ends up killing everyone, privileged or not.
